Havfolket Kalder Mørknet Vand is an immersive Virtual Reality experience rooted in the Northern myths of the merpeople, who lured sailors and longing souls to sea. Like the lost ones of the past, you begin by the seaside. The world around you dissolves as you hear the calling from the sea, and you are submerged in a suggestive underwater world, where the distinction between reality and imagination, man and nature, disappears. DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT You are invited to tune into an ancient human frequency, known by generations of Northerners at the mercy of the sea. From a time when myth was part of life, and the human animal was connected to nature. The work makes use of VRs immersive possibilities by constantly having you suspended between a naturalistic sonic and visual landscape and a magical one. Through a constant, subtle play with sonic and visual hallucinations nature around you will transform into a presence, a being that communicates with you. And you will listen. We have lost confidence in future as progress, well aware that we as a species have embarked on a self-destructive path, destroying the very nature that we come from.
